Ingredients
Hyaluronic Acid (HA), crosslinked with BDDE
A naturally occurring sugar in the body that adds volume, moisture, and smoothness to the skin. Crosslinking helps the HA last longer after injection.
0.3% Lidocaine
A local anesthetic included to reduce pain and discomfort during the injection process.
Mechanism of Action
Restylane® Kysse is a hyaluronic acid-based filler designed specifically for the lips and lines around the mouth. Its unique XpresHAn Technology™ allows the gel to move more naturally with your facial expressions, helping it blend seamlessly with your own lip tissue.
Because it’s tailored for the delicate lip area, less product is typically needed to achieve soft, full, and natural-looking results. The hyaluronic acid in the formula works by attracting and holding moisture, which adds volume and smooths fine lines.
If needed, results can be adjusted using hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid—offering flexibility and control in your treatment.

Dosage and technique
Restylane® Kysse is injected using an ultrafine needle and is typically placed into the submucosal layer of the lips for volume enhancement. To smooth lines around the mouth, it is injected into the mid-dermis to subcutaneous layer.
The recommended maximum dose is 1.5 mL per upper lip and 1.5 mL per lower lip, with a total treatment limit of 6 mL per session, including touch-ups.
Common injection techniques include linear threading, serial puncture, and fan or fern patterns, depending on the area being treated and the injector’s preference.
Before injection, the area is cleaned and may be numbed with a topical anesthetic. After injection, the lips should be gently massaged to ensure even distribution. Patients should be observed for any immediate reactions.
Post-treatment
To help reduce side effects and support the best results after your Restylane® Kysse treatment:

Apply a cold compress (clean cloth dipped in cold water) to reduce swelling right after treatment.

Avoid touching or pressing the treated area for at least 6 hours. After that, you may gently wash with soap and water.

Limit exposure to heat, sun, tanning beds, and intense cold for the first 24 hours, or until any swelling or redness fades.

Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and makeup for the first day after treatment.

Do not take blood thinners (like aspirin, ibuprofen, high-dose vitamin E, or St. John’s Wort) for one week, unless approved by your doctor.
Your doctor may gently massage the treated area during the procedure to ensure even distribution of the filler. No routine massage is needed afterward unless specifically advised by your provider.
